Top 20 FAQs – Tawang Tour Package for Senior Citizens
1. Is Tawang suitable for senior citizens?
Tawang can be visited by senior citizens, but it depends on their fitness level. The long drives and high altitude at Sela Pass and Bumla Pass can be tiring for some elderly people. This package is designed to be relaxed, but it is not completely effortless.
2. How tiring are the long drives in this Tawang tour?
Some days involve long drives (especially Day 4 and Day 7). Even though we drive at a comfortable speed with rest stops, many senior citizens do feel tired by the evening. We keep the itinerary as relaxed as possible, but long hours in the vehicle are part of the trip.
3. Is the high altitude safe for senior citizens?
Sela Pass is at 13,700 ft and Bumla Pass is at 15,200 ft. Some seniors manage well, while others may feel breathless or get headaches. We advise senior citizens to consult their doctor before booking, especially if they have blood pressure, heart, or breathing issues.
4. Can we skip Bumla Pass if we are not comfortable with high altitude?
Yes, we can skip Bumla Pass if needed. Many senior citizens choose to skip it and instead spend more time relaxing in Tawang or visiting other places at a lower altitude.
5. How much walking is involved in this tour?
There is very little walking. Most places have easy access. However, Tawang Monastery has some steps, and seniors with knee or joint problems may find it slightly difficult.
6. What kind of hotels are provided for senior citizens?
We try to arrange comfortable hotels and homestays with attached bathrooms and geysers. However, in places like Shergaon and some parts of Tawang, the facilities are basic compared to city hotels. Cleanliness is generally good.
7. How cold does it get in Tawang?
It can get quite cold, especially in the mornings and evenings. Even in October or March, temperatures can drop below 5°C at night. Seniors are advised to carry proper woollens, thermals, and a good jacket.
8. Is medical help available during the trip?
Medical facilities are limited in Tawang and almost non-existent in higher areas. In case of an emergency, we can only reach the nearest hospital in Tawang or Bomdila. This is why we ask senior citizens to carry all their regular medicines.
9. Can the pace of the tour be made slower?
Yes, we can make the tour slower if required. We can add more rest stops, reduce sightseeing on some days, or add an extra night in Tawang or Dirang. Just inform us in advance.
10. What should senior citizens definitely carry on this trip?
- All regular medicines with extra stock
- Warm jacket and thermals
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Government ID proof
- A small power bank
- Some snacks and water
- Any specific medical items (like oxygen can, if advised by doctor)
11. What if the weather becomes bad during the trip?
Mountain weather can change suddenly. In case of heavy rain, snowfall, or landslides, some places may be closed. We try to adjust the itinerary for safety, but we cannot guarantee visiting every place.
12. Is this tour completely hassle-free for senior citizens?
Not completely. While we take care of permits, vehicle, and stays, senior citizens should be prepared for long travel hours, changing weather, basic facilities in remote areas, and limited medical support.
13. Why should we choose Wild Hill Adventure for a senior citizen Tawang trip?
We are a local Northeast company with over 8 years of experience. We have taken many senior citizens to Tawang and understand their needs well. We focus on comfort, safety, good stays, and a relaxed pace rather than rushing through the itinerary.
14. What is the best time for senior citizens to visit Tawang?

Yes, Indian citizens need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter Arunachal Pradesh. Wild Hill Adventure takes care of all permits for our guests.
